Code of Conduct
At United Sports Flag Football League, our mission is to promote confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, and sportsmanship through recreational sports. We are committed to providing a positive, safe, and fun environment for all participants, and to achieve this, we’ve implemented a Zero Tolerance Policy regarding behavior on and off the field. The following codes of conduct apply to all participants, including parents, coaches, and players.
Parent Code of Conduct
As a parent, you play a crucial role in the experience your child has in our league. To ensure the best possible atmosphere for your child and others, we ask that you agree to the following:
Positive Support: I will provide positive encouragement and support for my child and all other players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or event.
Good Sportsmanship: I (and my guests) will promote good sportsmanship by refraining from unsportsmanlike behavior, such as booing, taunting, or using profane language or gestures.
Respect for All: I will treat all players, coaches, officials, and parents with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
Prioritize Well-being: I will prioritize my child's emotional and physical well-being over my personal desire to win.
Support Coaches and Officials: I will support the coaches and officials working with my child to create a positive, enjoyable experience for everyone.
Safe Environment: I will insist on a safe and healthy environment, free from weapons, drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and refrain from using these substances at any event.
Youth-Focused: I will remember that youth sports are for children, not adults, and I will strive to make the experience fun and enjoyable for my child.
Respect and Encourage: I will refrain from ridiculing or yelling at my child or any other participant for making a mistake or losing a game.
Involvement: I will help my child enjoy the experience by being a supportive and respectful fan, assisting with coaching, or providing transportation when needed.
Additional Guidelines:
- No foul or derogatory language will be tolerated.
- No bullying or harassment toward any player, coach, official, or spectator.
- No inappropriate or aggressive behavior is acceptable at any time, including at practices, games, or events.
Consequences for Violations:
I understand that failure to comply with this Parent Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions, which could include the following:
- Verbal warnings from officials, coaches, or league staff
- Ejection from the game, event, or facility
- Suspension from future games or the entire season, without refund
- Forfeiture of games or removal of my child from the league
By agreeing to this Code of Conduct, I acknowledge that I will be held to these standards and that any violations could lead to the consequences mentioned above.
Player Code of Conduct
As a player in the United Sports Flag Football League, you are expected to uphold the following standards:
Respect: I will treat my coaches, teammates, opponents, and officials with respect at all times.
Good Sportsmanship: I will demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the field, regardless of the outcome of the game.
Teamwork: I will work together with my team and listen to my coaches to improve and have fun.
No Bullying: I will not engage in bullying or inappropriate behavior toward any player, coach, or official.
No Foul Language: I will not use inappropriate or derogatory language at any time.
No Aggressive Behavior: I will not engage in aggressive or inappropriate physical behavior toward others on or off the field.
Consequences for Violations:
Violations of the Player Code of Conduct may result in the following disciplinary actions:
- Verbal warning by coach or official
- Removal from the game or practice
- Suspension from future games
Coach Code of Conduct
Coaches are the leaders of our teams and set the tone for the season. We expect all coaches to abide by these guidelines:
Lead by Example: I will demonstrate positive behavior, good sportsmanship, and respect for all participants, parents, and officials.
Safety First: I will prioritize the safety and well-being of my players, providing a safe and supportive environment.
Develop Character: I will focus on developing the players’ confidence, self-esteem, and sportsmanship as much as their athletic skills.
No Foul Language or Derogatory Behavior: I will refrain from using foul or inappropriate language during games and practices.
No Bullying or Aggressive Behavior: I will not tolerate any form of bullying or aggressive behavior among players and will address it immediately.
Consequences for Violations:
Coaches who fail to comply with the Code of Conduct may face the following consequences:
- Verbal warning or reprimand
- Suspension from coaching duties
- Removal from coaching role for future seasons
Agreement
By participating in the United Sports Flag Football League, you agree to abide by these Codes of Conduct. Your compliance ensures a positive and safe environment for all players, parents, and coaches involved.
Note: Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in removal from games, suspension from the season, or termination from the league, with no refund.
