Season Details - United Sports Flag Football League:
Season Timing: The United Sports Flag Football League has three seasons: Winter (January to March), Spring (April to June), and Fall (August to October). We schedule games based on when we can use the fields and our staff's availability. You can find specific dates and locations on our website.
Grade-Based Participation: We group players by their school grade to make sure they compete with kids their age. Players must stick to their grade level and can't play in a lower grade.
Buddy or Coach Requests: If your child wishes to be teamed with a buddy or a specific coach, you can indicate these preferences during the registration process. Please refer to our Parents Introduction Page for our Buddy or Coach Requests Policy. Coaches can send a link to their players to sign up for their specific teams
Convenient Scheduling: We hold all practices and games on the same day each week to keep the time commitment low. Families should plan for a two-hour block each week, with practice right before the game.
Game Format: Our games are 5-on-5, played on a 40-yard field, and are non-contact to keep it safe. We often have several games going on at once on a regular football field.
Coaching Structure: Each team is coached by volunteer coaches. We encourage parents to volunteer to help with coaching and team management.
Uniform and Player Pack Delivery: We send uniforms and player packs right to your home. We use USPS for shipping, so please make sure your address is correct. There might be a fee for replacing uniforms if there are address mistakes.
Additional Program Details:
Development Focus: Our league provides a structured place to learn and enjoy flag football, welcoming players of all skill levels and encouraging them to improve at their own pace.
Inclusive Participation: Our league is open to both boys and girls. We focus on teamwork and fair play in both offense and defense, with help from both student and volunteer coaches.
Streamlined Weekend Schedules: We value family time, so we schedule practices just before games, usually on weekends. Any extra practices are optional and up to the parents and coaches to organize.
Equipment and Apparel: The league provides all necessary flag football gear. Players should wear athletic shoes or cleats. The registration fee includes uniforms, which are delivered to your home.
Community and Team Formation: Teams are usually made up of schoolmates, friends, or community members, which helps build team spirit and friendship.
Emphasis on Growth and Resilience: We encourage healthy competition but focus on personal and athletic growth, teaching valuable lessons through successes and challenges. We emphasize effort and improvement with a 'single trophy' approach, rather than just participation.
By joining our league, young athletes learn more than sports skills; they gain teamwork, leadership, and resilience in a supportive community setting.
